The opener only steers the door; the springs carry its weight, so we check the balance, the cables and the rollers before hanging a new motor on it. A door that needs spring work gets that quoted separately (a single spring is $240–$280 incl. GST, a re-tension $280–$330) so the new opener isn't dragging a faulty door from day one.

A roller door opener mounts on the drum axle and works against the spring inside the drum, so before quoting a motor we check the curtain, the spring tension and the guides; a door that binds in its guides will wear out any new motor.
