Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers
This policy belongs to Elite Garage Doors Perth (ABN 12 370 448 869), a garage door repair and installation business based in Gosnells, WA. It applies to this website and to the personal information we handle when you ask for a quote, book a job, register a motor or talk to us by phone, email or chat. The Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) set the standard we work to.
What we collect
Most of what we hold is what you give us so that a technician can come out and do the job:
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- The address of the property, so we can attend and keep a record of the work done there.
- What you tell us about the door: its type, the fault, the opener brand and anything you add in a form or on the phone.
- Photos or videos of the door if you choose to send them to us.
- Messages you type into the Smart Garage Assistant chat, and any contact details you leave in it.
- The suburb and job details you enter into the price calculator.
- If you register a Capital motor for its 5-year warranty: your contact details, the install address and the invoice or install date.
- Technical data such as your device type, browser, pages viewed and the referring page, if analytics is switched on.
We do not ask for card or bank details anywhere on this website.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry, prepare a quote and book the visit.
- To carry out the repair, service or installation and to invoice it.
- To keep a record of the parts fitted and the work done, so a 12-month workmanship warranty claim or a 5-year motor warranty claim can be checked against the job.
- To follow up on a quote or a finished job, and to let you know about servicing that keeps your cover current, if you have asked us to.
- To generate replies in the chat and to keep the conversation available to our team so a person can pick it up.
- To understand how the website is used and fix what is not working.
- To meet legal, tax and insurance obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent our customer list to anyone.
Who we share it with
We only pass information to providers that help us run the business, and only what they need for their part of the job:
- The booking and customer-management software that stores quote requests, bookings, job records and motor registrations.
- The content-management system behind this website, which also stores chat conversations and chat lead details.
- An AI language-model provider that processes the text of chat messages to produce a reply. Please do not type card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details into the chat.
- An email delivery provider, used to send confirmations and notifications.
- Analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity, if they are enabled on the site.
- Google, when you use the embedded map on our contact page.
- Our insurer, accountant or lawyer if a job becomes the subject of a claim or dispute.
- Anyone we are required by law to disclose it to.
Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Australia. Where that is the case, we rely on the provider's own privacy and security commitments.
Cookies and similar tools
The site uses a small amount of browser storage to remember things like whether you have already seen the chat prompt. If analytics is enabled, those tools set their own cookies to measure visits. Embedded third-party content, such as the Google map, can set cookies from its own domain. You can block or clear cookies in your browser; the site will still work, although some conveniences may not.
We also measure visits ourselves, so we can tell which pages and which advertising bring in work. Through our own server, into the customer-management system we run, the site records the page you landed on, the site that referred you (if your browser passes one), any campaign tags or ad click identifiers in the address you arrived on, a coarse device type (phone, tablet or desktop), the pages you view, how far you scroll and how long each page is open, page-speed measurements, and which buttons you tap (for example a phone number or the quote form) and where they sit on the page.
Two first-party cookies tie this together. egd_sid identifies a single visit and expires after 30 minutes without activity. egd_vid is set by our server on your first page view, contains only a random string, and lasts up to 400 days so a later visit can be connected to an earlier one. Neither holds your name, contact details or a login. Your IP address is seen by our server for rate-limiting only and is not stored with these records.
How we protect and keep it
The systems that hold customer records sit behind logins limited to the people who need them, and this website is served over HTTPS. No system is completely immune to misuse, so we keep what we store to what the job needs.
We keep job records for as long as a 5-year motor warranty or a 12-month workmanship warranty could still be claimed, and for as long as tax and business record-keeping laws require. Quote requests that never become a job are kept for a shorter period so we can follow up, then removed. You can ask us to delete your details at any time; we will do so unless a record has to be kept by law.
Your choices and rights
- Ask, and we will give you a copy of what we hold about you and fix anything in it that is wrong.
- You can ask not to receive follow-up messages from us.
- You can deal with us without using the chat or the online forms: a phone call works for everything on this site.
- If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first and we will look into it. If our answer does not settle it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) takes complaints about privacy.
Changes to this policy
If the way we handle information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. The version published here is the one that applies.
