Why register the motor at all?
Because a claim three years from now should not depend on finding a receipt. Once the opener is registered, the model, the install date and the address are on the job record, so a call is all it takes to book the visit. The registration also stays with the property, which matters if the house is sold with the opener in it.
The terms are short. A Capital 1100N or 1500N we install carries a 5-year warranty on the motor and drive unit. The installation carries a 12-month warranty on workmanship. Keep the door professionally serviced each year and the motor and drive cover runs to 7 years with annual servicing. The yearly service that keeps the longer cover going is the same garage door service we do on any door: the balance is checked, the springs and cables inspected, the rollers and hinges lubricated and the opener's force and limits reset. It is from $140 incl. GST plus parts, and the service cost guide explains what is included.
