Replacing a garage door is less about the door on the brochure and more about the opening it has to fill. Before anything is ordered, the installer measures the width and height of the opening, the headroom above it, the side room either side and the depth back into the garage. Those four numbers decide which door types will physically fit: a roller door needs room above the opening for its drum, a sectional door needs headroom and ceiling depth for its horizontal tracks, and a low ceiling or a beam in the wrong place can rule one of them out. On installation day the old door comes down first. Springs are wound off safely, the curtain or panels are lifted out, and the old tracks, brackets and hardware are unbolted from the brickwork. We take all of it away, so you are not left with a skip-sized pile of steel on the driveway. The opening is then checked for square and for any damaged brickwork or lintel that needs attention before the new door goes in.
The new door goes in with its own tracks, springs and hardware rather than reusing worn parts from the old one. Guides or tracks are fixed plumb, the door is hung, and the springs are tensioned to that door's weight so it balances halfway up and lifts evenly by hand. Fit and balance
